The Center for Islamic Pluralism will be represented in Western Europe by Dr. Irfan al-Alawi.   Dr. al-Alawi, Barrister at Law and Lecturer in Islamic Theology and Islamic Spirituality, resides in the UK.  He is a distinguished scholar of Islam and expert on the preservation of Islamic cultural heritage.  He has been notably active in opposing extremist Muslim trends such as Wahhabism and Deobandism in Britain.   For further information, one may consult his remarks to the June 21, 2006 Washington Conference on Euro-Islam.
