AnnouncementsFatiha for Rahmetli Pëllumb Katroshi
CIP http://www.islamicpluralism.org/1378/fatiha-for-pellumb-katroshi The Center for Islamic Pluralism has received news of the death of Pëllumb Katroshi, an honored member of the Bektashi Sufi community in Tirana, Albania. Mr. Katroshi published three volumes of Bektashi nefesler (spiritual verses and songs), including Gurgullima Shpirti: Këngë Bektashiane, issued in 2006. He was also a contributor to the monthly Bektashi periodical Urtësia (Wisdom) and a member of the Tirana Music Academy. CIP Executive Director Stephen Sylejman Schwartz commented, "I am especially sad to hear of the death of Pëllumb Katroshi, who made a unique contribution to the record of Bektashi culture in the Albanian lands. I drew on his book, and his inspiration, in writing my book The Other Islam: Sufism and the Road to Global Harmony." CIP calls for recitations of Fatiha for Pëllumb Katroshi, and for memorial donations to the Baba Harabati Bektashi teqe in Tetova, Macedonia, which is currently under serious attack from Wahhabi aggressors. Those concerned to contribute to the defense of the Harabati teqe may contact CIP.
