Greetings for Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Holidays
by Center for Islamic Pluralism http://www.islamicpluralism.org/1432/greetings-for-jewish-christian-and-muslim-holidays The Center for Islamic Pluralism extends warm greetings in the common month of December 2009 to Jewish, Christian, and Muslim believers. During this month, the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, which celebrates liberation, began on the evening of December 11 [25th of Kislev of the Hebrew year 5770]. The feast of Christmas will take place on its fixed date, December 25. The 10th of Muharram [Ashura] of the Hijri year 1431 will fall on December 27, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Husayn at Karbala. The coincidence of major holidays, all associated with spiritual redemption, for members of the three great monotheistic communities, should be a source of sincere reflection on the values shared in their revelation and of strengthened commitment to moderation in religion.
