Center for Islamic Pluralism Condemns Muslim Involvement in Fort Hood Atrocity
by Stephen Schwartz
The Center for Islamic Pluralism (CIP) condemns the involvement of at least one Muslim, whose identity has been disclosed as Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan, in the horrific atrocity at Fort Hood, Texas today.
Any such action by Muslims gravely hurts all Muslims as well as all Americans and people of good will throughout the world. The United States armed forces are allies of moderate Muslims and must be safe from attack by any person incited by radical ideology.
CIP calls for vigorous prosecution and punishment of all individuals involved in this crime and rejects any and all stereotyping as "Islamophobic" of analysis or criticism of the role of radical Islam in terrorism. Opposition to Islamist terror is not Islamophobic; repudiation of extremism is necessary for the rescue of Islam as a world religion.
CIP further calls for prayer and repentance in memory of the victims of the Fort Hood assault and for full cooperation of all Muslims in apprehending other perpetrators of terrorism.
